This selection focuses on office workflows and is not an exhaustive feature list. A dash means the specific workflow is not established in the reviewed sources; extensions or other implementations may be possible. Checks indicate documented features, not benchmark results. Availability depends on version, setup and connected services. LibreChat documentation also covers “Latest (dev)”.

Before you decide

What matters beyond features.

Test your everyday tasks with the same models and documents. This shows which interface and workflow help your team.

Does self-hosting keep all data local?

That depends on the connected services. Local models can process content locally; external model APIs, web search and MCP services can send data to other systems. Review the complete processing chain for each platform.

Which costs should I plan for?

Account for hardware or hosting, model usage, setup, updates and backups. Support or commercial services may add further costs. The schorn.ai Box is an optional hardware purchase; see the current options in the Box comparison.

Are the licensing terms the same?

No. Since v0.6.6, Open WebUI uses its own license with branding requirements and exceptions. LibreChat is available under the MIT license. Find information about schorn.ai source code on our open-source page. Check the terms of the relevant version before modifying or redistributing it.
